There is nothing that can prepare for the beauty that awaits you at Yosemite National Park, California. Here are some helpful tips to get the most out of your trip, allowing you to relax in the breath-taking nature.
Dodge Peak Hours
Arrive in the park before 9am or after 5pm to avoid traffic. Car parks are limited and can be chaotic at busy times so arriving earlier is advised. Sitting in long queues of traffic shortens the time spent admiring the tumbling waterfalls and tremendous cliff faces.
Car Entry Fees
It costs $30 to enter the park in the summer season and $25 in winter if you’re travelling by car. Include this in your budget.
Watch Out for Bears
Yosemite Valley is home to 300-500 black bears. Although they mainly live off vegetation and insects, their powerful sense of smell attracts them to the tourist area. Even an empty sweet wrapper can trigger a bear to break into a car. Store anything scented in metal food storage lockers that are distributed across the park.
Clothing
Bring a range of different outdoor clothes. The array of activities in Yosemite requires appropriate clothing, such as wet clothes for water rafting down the crystal clear rivers and sturdy walking boots for hiking up the rocky pathways.
Stargazing
The night sky makes for the most incredible stargazing. Bring a star chart and search for constellations. There’s also the chance to meet amateur astronomers at the top of Glacier Point to look through telescopes and join astronomy walks.
Invest in a Camera
It will be one of the most beautiful places you’ve ever visited so you’ll want unforgettable memories in the best snapshot.
I love Yosemite! It’s one of the most beautiful places in the world, let alone California!
